Power Hour: Advanced note taking

Advanced note taking

(suitable for years 12 and above)

Develop critical reading and advanced note taking skills

The transition from Key Stage 4 to Key Stage 5 is a big shift in the depth of the content and the demands put on the student. Many struggle through trying to apply the reading and note taking skills that worked in KS4, but now don’t work so well in KS5. This compact workshop shows your students how to become active and critical readers and how to apply the Cornell Method for taking efficient and effective notes; a technique that will serve them well as they progress on to higher levels of study.

Your students will learn how to:

1. Read with a purpose to stay focused and on task
2. Become a critical reader, listener and observer
3. Take effective notes
