MADE TLP meetings

I was in the extremely hot north-west yesterday with my colleague and head of training, Sander de Groot. We had travelled up for our latest round of meetings in which we have been sharing information on our whole school, learning transformation programme entitled the Total Learning Package.

Following what was described as a “great success” (see full quote below) for students, teachers and parents earlier this academic year, The Grange School in Runcorn were just one of many schools in the area to express their interest in a holistic, coordinated approach to developing the learning skills of students across all Key Stages. It was really positive meeting Jane Thomson, Assistant Head and her team of Year Leaders to discuss how our progressive suite of workshops for students, staff and parents would have a profound and cumulative effect on the learning culture and ultimately, results in the school. Together, we agreed on and planned the dates for their specific interventions which comprise the Total Learning Package (TLP), including an additional bespoke element of working with year 6 students to aid in the transition from the primary to the secondary phase of the school. The entire team were in agreement on the inclusion of a series of Parents’ Evenings to extend and encourage parental support and the Year 7 MADE parents’ workshop will form part of the introduction to KS3 for all families with children at that stage. The Head of Year 11 was particularly excited by the inclusion of peer mentoring and tutoring because it linked with key elements of the school development plan.

From my point of view, these meetings are really beneficial. It’s much more personal talking face to face and enables us to learn more about each other’s strategies and objectives and how they align. It’s also been useful to put faces to names with those clients I have been speaking to for a number of years. Meeting them in person has allowed us to discuss in detail how together we can make a lasting impact across the whole school with regard to revision and strategies.

I look forward to meeting many more of you over the coming months. Please call me at your earliest convenience to arrange a suitable time.
