Nicci was very warm, welcoming and enthusiastic about the content she delivered

Nicci was very warm, welcoming and enthusiastic about the content she delivered during the MADE training for some of our Year 9 and 10 students on working through and setting their Goals and Aspirations. She welcomed questions and had prizes for everyone that volunteered answers which kept students engaged throughout. It was a pleasure to see her speak to our students as she had examples from her life and others to show students the end results of putting what she was teaching them into practice. I've since passed on some of the booklets to my colleagues as I genuinely believe the content is very suitable for everyone including teachers! And I hope to use them myself as soon as possible. -

Students were excited to find out that Rob was coming back

I was in the sessions yesterday and really enjoyed them too. Students were excited to find out that Rob was coming back to do another workshop with them as they loved the Aspirations workshop on Futures Friday. They said his personality is great and the sessions were informative and fun. From my point of view as a teacher, I realised that we don't always spend enough time explaining how to use the revision techniques and often make assumptions i.e that students know what to highlight when highlighting key points in texts. I also think that we as teachers need to spend more time explaining how/why these methods work so that students buy into them and are willing to give them a try. Rob reads the students really well, he praises students who need to engage in the session better and learns and uses their names really quickly. He uses humour and speaks to as many of the students as he can during the sessions. I think they all feel like they know him now. Some comments from my year 11 form: "I think the sessions were really helpful. I learned new techniques for revision that I haven't thought of before." "Rob's sessions were enjoyable and definitely not boring. He brought personality and humour to them." "He really interacted with the group instead of just talking"

The content of the workshop was excellent

Joe was excellent, really engaging and interactive and he worked well with all the students. The content of the workshop was excellent, it included really practical ways of revising and remembering information and key facts. A number of the students have said how useful they found the workshop and they feel it will really help with their revision.

The boys took a real shine to him

It was fabulous. Rob really engaged the boys from the outset not only with the materials that he used but also with his own energetic style and delivery (he reminded me of me, which is a compliment in itself). The fact that the class is made up of 26 boys, some of whom are the most challenging in the school, meant that the day could have been a real challenge for some teachers. However, Rob’s professionalism, energy, drive and motivation absolutely shone through. The boys took a real shine to him and have asked if they can work with him again-a sign that he made a real impression on them. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, Rob, and Lucy from Staffs Uni for giving us this opportunity to work with your company. Thanks again, Dave and the boys.

The teachers with the group really enjoyed it and were furiously taking notes!

Joe delivered an excellent session - everyone enjoyed it and found it useful. The teachers with the group really enjoyed it and were furiously taking notes! It was a hard to engage group of lads and Joe was brilliant at keeping them focused on the session. The revision techniques he delivered were excellent and were aimed at the right level for the group. What Joe managed to get the group taking part in throughout the session was truly amazing and inspiring. The motivational aspect was great and very much needed for the group - something that we weren't quite aware of when we booked you but I feel that the questions that Joe was asking the group really got through to some of them. Please pass on our thanks to Joe - it was a difficult, though lovely, group to work with and he did amazingly. Looking forward to working with you again in the future.

I honestly have to say this is the best one I’ve ever been involved with

Rob the trainer was incredible, he had the students eating out of his hand even before the session started. Bearing in mind this group had been in one room all week and beginning to lose the will. Rob’s mannerism and enthusiasm was so infectious and within minutes you could feel the atmosphere in the room change, and the students began to become engaged. The sessions were paced really well, and kept everyone focussed including two naughty staff (hehe) it was interactive, thought provoking and really inspirational, the students interacted not only with Rob, but were engaging and encouraging other students. I have worked in schools for a long time, and seen many outside agencies come into school to deliver their workshops. I honestly have to say this is the best one I’ve ever been involved with. I will certainly recommend this to my other colleagues (or maybe not and just keep the courses for my year group) ! Please pass onto Rob my sincere thanks and gratitude for really lifting me today I have left the workshop feeling energised and motivated, ready to face the next week. Thanks again

Some saying it’s the best talk they’ve ever had

We had James deliver the ‘goals and aspirations’ workshop today at Callywith College. It was pitched so perfectly it’s like he got into my brain or something. It was exactly what we were after. Today's theme at college was all about aiming high and believing in yourself and his talk fitted this perfectly. We’ve had a whole week of events and James was by far the best bit of the week. Staff and students have said it’s the best talk they’ve been to all year with some saying it’s the best talk they’ve ever had. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

It was wonderful to see so many engaged and inspired

I just wanted to express my sincere thanks for the wonderful experience the pupils at EPCHS had. It was wonderful to see so many engaged and inspired by the techniques. Joe was fantastic and had a great way with the students who at times can be quite passive... I look forward to working with the company again.

The workshop was delivered brilliantly

The workshop was delivered brilliantly by Sander, he had students (and staff) fully engaged and everyone walked away from the event in a positive mood having learned something new to help them in their studies (or their work). The feedback has been so very positive and we are all looking forward to the next one on the 20th June.

He delivered the sessions in such a fun way

We were delighted to be able to run the 2 workshops to fairly small groups of our year 10 Next Steps targeted students today. The trainer, James Sherwood was lively, engaging and really approachable. He delivered the session in such a fun way; the students were focussed and I loved the way they all eventually went away with pens and highlighters to help motivate further study. The workshop media used and worksheet were good quality – I liked the layout of the sheet with the different tasks to complete. It was great to have a different person – not their usual teachers, to tell the students that they do need to study hard to achieve success and get them to think about how to make study more effective and use their time wisely – e.g. by prioritising tasks while still having a work flow to the day with breaks. As the audience were targeted students by Next Steps, many of whom qualify for the Pupil Premium due to deprivation, I thought the section exploring the potential barriers and distractions to their study present at home worked really well. As a Science teacher, I enjoyed the examples based on biology and chemistry and the session did keep their attention for the whole 2 hours. Many thanks to Next Steps South West for facilitating these sessions and to James for the excellent workshops. Thanks again – we would never have had funding available for this if it wasn’t for Next Steps!
