Self reflection on a boat
Shiver my timbers; MADE on a boat! We now have an office on a former WW1 warship moored on the river Thames in Central London. When MADE was first looking for new office space, this was not what we had in mind. But, our team quickly fell for her quirky and unique charms and we can safely say it was a great decision to come aboard. The real and lasting benefit was however, quite unexpected.
The offices on board are ‘open plan’, and house different companies from many different sectors whose employees come into contact with one another on a daily basis.
This daily interaction with different organisations allows us to observe a multitude of creative and innovative approaches to working and problem-solving. This in turn has prompted us to regularly reflect on and improve our own practices. The boat and its unique environment have created a wonderful platform for indirect learning!
Our work is centred on helping our clients to self reflect; to regularly review and question how you operate. How does your school promote self-reflection amongst the students? How do your staff share ideas and best practice for teaching and learning between each other and between departments?
