Year groups – 10, 11, 12, 13, staff
MADE has worked with MRC Academy consistently over the last four years. Claire Dickens, Progress Manager for Year 11, has brought MADE in regularly to help her students remain focused and on task. We look forward to many more years of working together.
“I can’t say thank you enough for yesterday’s presentation from Sander on ‘Exams made Easy’. Sander was a character and got more from the students than we ever manage to! His character brought to life the simple techniques that he presented in a really engaging style. I found it amazing how we all learnt 10 elements of the Periodic Table without even realising it… very, very clever… and a simple amount of imagination made it so interesting! The students were blown away with how easy Sander made the revision seem, they have definitely got some new skills, and by lunchtime I had other staff coming to me to say how wonderful the students found it as they were in lessons discussing it all already!
From our staff who were helping to supervise, an English teacher within 10 minutes had decided on a new way to do our ‘Exam Blaster’ sessions – simply taking the idea from Sander about ‘hanging’ information around the room and using visual cues to recall these. I know, as staff in our small training session at the end we created some great ‘journeys’ as we practised the technique….even we learnt 10 USA presidents and their states – something I never imagined possible in such a short space of time, but we did it!
The most important visitor was our Principal. He came down to the second session as he had heard news of the morning’s work. He spent about 30 minutes in the session and asked me immediately to re-book MADE for our Year 11 ASAP! To summarise I would have to say an astonishing, simple, yet creative style and perfect for any stage of revision – they are all techniques which students can pick up and use that day. We would definitely like to make you part of a specific yearly program for us. See you very, very soon! Claire.”
